Bronze Lens Film Festival "SuperStart" Luncheon

BRONZE LENS FILM FESTIVAL ATLANTA

The first annual Bronze Lens Film Festival of Atlanta took place November 11-14, 2010.  Conceptualized in 2009, this year’s debut festival, a non-profit organization is dedicated to bringing worldwide attention to Atlanta as the new film mecca and as the benchmark for recognizing film and film production for and by people of color.
 

With the opening of famed Tyler Perry Studios and the soon to arrive Georgia Film and Television Center, a division of EUE/Screen Gems, Ltd, Atlanta is poised to take its place as a film mecca for filmmakers around the world.

FeSa’ad Magazine’s columnists Deborah Champagne stopped by the festival’s Superstart Luncheon and witnessed the first installment of award recipients take the stand.  A star-studded event hosted by Actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Actor Omari Hardwick (For Colored Girls), talented film industry executive proudly represented.

First annual Superstar Award recipients included actress Lynn Whitfield, casting executive Robi Reed, film producers Angi Bones and Dianne Ashford of Symmetry Entertainment http://www.symmetryentertainment.com/, director Ava DuVernay and the first African-American woman billionaire Sheila Crump Johnson.

In attendance were RainForest Film Producer Will Packer, Executive Vice President of Tyler Perry Studios – Roger Bob, Jazz-Singer Kathleen Bertrand and Celebrity Attorney Shannon King Nash.
