EnVogue Still Sexy in Union City, GA

September 5, 2010

Labor Day weekend in Union City, Georgia was more than typical and boring. Although few businesses have relocated from the South Atlanta City, a concert featuring Oakwood College graduates, 80's R&B sensations revived the town with a crowd that looked like a sea of people. The crowd was so massive that the Union Station Mall parking lot where the stage was set required two additional viewing screens to make the concert worth the supporters time.

Terri, Maxine, Dawn and Cindy (EnVogue) sound was still memorable and recognizable; the ladies “Still Got It”. A few glitches in the sound system and a lighting issue leaving the ladies unable to hear or see the fans they appreciate so much were the only minor distractions. After a short pause while the engineers get the problem straight, the group gave their fans what they were waiting for, a review of the hits that made this quad so famous. Songs like What a Man, Don't Go, and Hold On, reminded the crowd why they came out in such numbers in the first place. Red and black in varying contrast were the group’s colors, and not surprising but definitely confirming was the fact that although forty-something, the ladies look well and well-fit, with a few extra pounds all in the right places.

The hosts for the evening were the V-103 DJ's who did a terrific job commentating and spinning music from the eighties to present day hip-hop; there was no down time while the crowd waited for the feature artist, everybody danced and sang until the curtain call. Union City officials, City Manager and Mayor were all in attendance, while the Union City police officers did a great job managing and directing the crowds with no mishaps and bad behavior.
